A chair is only as good as its seat.

As artisan seat weavers, we can offer the most intricate weaving methods using multiple materials, including Danish cord, seagrass, fibre rush, cane or rattan, and Shaker tape. 

 

We've extensive experience restoring woven chairs, tables, daybeds, and even headboards for iconic designers.

Caning Canada and Vintage Chair Canada save woven treasures one piece at a time while travelling this beautiful Country in our RV.

We pride ourselves on providing the highest quality restoration and weaving services. Our experience as vintage furniture weavers and finishers uses traditional methods and high-quality materials to bring your vintage furniture back to life.

Our Travel Schedule

Mid-October to Mid-April

Located in Fort Langley, BC, we serve outlying areas by offering meet-ups to pick up and return weaving projects in Abbotsford, Chilliwack, Kamloops, and Kelowna (via Merritt to serve the Okanagan, including Penticton, Vernon, and Nanaimo, Vancouver, Victoria once we have a truckload of projects.

Vancouver meet November 20th - now booking

Victoria meet in early December - now booking

If we get enough interest - 1st Kelowna and Kamloops will meet in early 2025 - now booking

 

Hey friends from Washington, if you're heading to Vancouver to take advantage of the USD to CND exchange rate for shopping or a holiday, we'll do our best to fit your project in while you're in town. Fort Langley is just a short drive from the border, (Bellingham, Blaine, Everson, Lynden, Point Roberts, Seattle, Sumas, and Tacoma.)

 

Mid-April to Mid-October

Caning Canada will be in Cochrane, Alberta, from mid-April through mid-October, with meets in Calgary, Edmonton, and Red Deer once we have a truckload of projects. 

Please send us photos of your project to get an estimate, and let us know where you're located!

 

We are booking Alberta projects for Spring 2025.

Weaving Restoration Estimates

Caning Canada wants to make the restoration of your woven family heirloom or newly discovered treasure obtainable.

 

Our pricing is based on the weaving style, the material used, and the attachment process, not the value of the woven piece you need to repair.

  • How can I get an estimate for your weaving services?
    Please send us a photo of the complete piece, the top, and the underside to either to our e-mail CaningCanada@gmail.com or text us at 403-613-5801 Tell us your location so we know which booking list to add your project to. Thank you, Laurie and David Blake Caning Canada
  • Where are you located?
    We're seat weaving while RVing and winter in Fort Langley Mid-October thro mid-April and typically spend our summers in the Calgary area mid-April thru mid-October. We hold meetups in outlying areas to pick up and return weaving projects to outlying areas. Many pieces can be mailed for weaving so if we're not coming to your area contact us to find out if your pieces can be mailed for weaving.
  • Can you stain the fresh cane?
    We live and work in our RV so do not offer an staining services. Cane doesn't need to be stained and can be left to age naturally. If you'd like to stain your cane, we can give you some scrap to colour test on.
  • Why do you charge a deposit for folks taking part in meetups?
    We schedule meetups in outlying areas to pickup and return pieces once we've booked a truckload of projects. We don't charge any additional fees for folks taking part in the meets (fuel, time, ferry, etc.) however need to ensure that we cover our costs so charge a $50 per piece deposit which will be deducted from the cost of weaving services upon completion. Deposit is applied to individual pieces. As an example, if you book in four pieces and bring three to the meet, you forfeit one $50 deposit.
  • Do you offer classes or sell materials?
    We're seat weaving while RVing. Due to the natural of our lifestyle we do not offer instruction or material sales.

Mail Your Piece for Weaving

If you would like to mail your woven chair seats, backs, or shelves to Caning Canada for weaving repair, most chair seats and backs can be removed and posted to our Fort Langley, BC winter site.
